The EU China Trade Project (EUCTPII) is a trade-related technical assistance (TRTA) project jointly-funded by the European Commission and the government of the People's Republic of China running from 2011 – 2015. It is the EU's largest TRTA project world-wide. The project's overall objective is to support China's economic, trade and investment reform in line with China's sustainable development path. By the end of its second year of operation (2012/3) a total of 200 activities in the form of seminars, workshops, conference, study visits and studies will have been implemented.
Position: Project Manager
EUCTPII has an opening for a Project Manager to work with the component team on cross-cutting issues, focussing on China's trade and investment policy in general and specific files including competition policy, the low carbon economy, public procurement, and regulatory reform.
Profile
The successful candidate will develop and manage a wide range of activities relating to China's overall trade policies. The candidate should balance knowledge of Europe and China's trade and investment policies with the ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills. Strong time and process management capacity is essential. Contacts in relevant Chinese ministries and EU Directorates-General would be an advantage.
Required qualifications
A university-level qualification in law, economics, international relations or similar fields is required and further suitable qualifications will be taken into account.
Excellent spoken and written English language skills are essential, with knowledge of Mandarin an advantage
At least five years of experience in similar projects or relevant field such as commerce
