BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:


 Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field and minimum 10 years related work experience, including at least 3 years experience at a senior level, or equivalent combination.


 Experience developing communication and engagement plans/strategies and evaluating/measuring the effectiveness of internal communications.


 Experience cultivating and managing relationships with senior level executives, Boards of Trustee, Board of Directors, or similar.


 Experience designing, directing and implementing multiple projects, including responsibility for budget and timeline.


 Experience managing a large, multidisciplinary team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


The Deputy Director works closely with the Executive Team, particularly the Greater China Deputy Director to be responsible for planning and implementation of a comprehensive philanthropy, marketing & Communicating program that secures the improvement of awareness, effectiveness & reputation of the organization & significant financial resources from corporations, individuals (include Hong Kong membership program), and foundations, within Greater China to support conservation goals in the division, region and around the world.


The Deputy Director lead the fundraising and communication departments to achieve the goals and fulfill the needs of the division’s business development, which include to:


- Lead the fundraising department, include all major gifts functions of the in-division fundraising program for non-US based donors, which includes identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major and principal gifts level donors


- Lead the Communication department to participate in the development and ensure implementation of an integrated, efficient and effective communication and engagement plan to help drive organizational strategy and facilitate the comprehension, adoption, and advancement of the organization’s goals and business objectives by 3,000+ staff worldwide.


S/he will lead the above-mentioned two teams to develop the division’s long-range strategic priorities in the related filed to implement the complementary public/private communication and fundraising strategy, include supervising the Hong Kong membership program.


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:


 Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field required. Advanced degree or extensive professional experience preferred.


 10 years or more years of professional experience required, including at least 3 years of experience at a senior level.


 Must have experience developing communication and engagement plans/strategies and evaluating/measuring the effectiveness of internal communications. Successful experience in asking for and closing gifts or sales and building and maintaining long-term relationships with donors or clients which will be considered as a plus


 Excellent writing, presentation, communication, mediation and negotiation skills.


 Exceptional analytic and creative skills. Ability to think strategically. Ability to synthesize complex information. Ability to apply research.


 Ability to manage project teams of peers as well as teams that include senior leaders, ALT managers and others in high level management positions.


 Strong interpersonal skills. Proven ability to succeed through positive influence and persuasion.


 Familiarity with communication technologies and best practices. Experience or understanding of best practices for a decentralized, global organization a strong plus.


 Ability to manage project budget.


 Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally as needed.


 Supervisory experience, including ability to motivate, lead, set objectives, and manage performance, including conflict resolution.


 Fluency in English & Mandarin required.

 Design, implement and direct multiple complex projects, setting and meeting deadlines and ensuring program accountability.

 Manage multi-disciplinary administrative and professional staff, with responsibility for performance management, training, and career development. Establishes clear directions and sets stretch objectives.


 Responsibility and accountability for meeting departmental strategic goals and objectives.


 Develops and administers departmental budget.


COMMUNICATIONS/INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:


 Work and communicate with a wide range of people in order to develop, negotiate, and or implement programs and projects.


 Communicate strategic project goals and objectives.


 Solicit program support through clear written communications, including proposal writing and other written materials.


 Leverages constructive and effective relationships inside and outside the Conservancy.


WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:


 Willingness to travel and work flexible hours.


 Ability to work under stress during peak workload periods.


 Work requires only minor physical exertion and/or physical strain. Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements.
