Position Summary
The World Resources Institute (WRI) Beijing office seeks a full-time Research Analyst for the water component under WRI’s Sustainable and Livable Cities Initiative. The position will provide analytical, research, writing, communication, and administrative support to develop tools and methodologies for sustainable urban water resources management.
Major responsibilities:
The research analyst will work with Sustainable and Livable City team members and external partners, provid ing research and administrative assistance to WRI China water team, including:
- Assist the China water team with the development of sustainable urban water governance initiatives;
- Undertake the scoping, mapping, and review of existing sustainable urban water governance studies;
- Conduct research and analysis on sustainable urban water governance in Qingdao and Chengdu;
- Coordinate meetings and facilitate various stakeholder events and interaction; proofread, edit, and translate working documents; and manage relevant contracts, travels, and research activities;
- Assist with project reporting, funding proposals, communication materials, and other project management activities;
- Support other program activities of the WRI China Office upon the request of the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Master degree in environmental engineering, environmental economy, environmental management, environmental policy, or a related field;
- At least four years experience in urban water field
- Solid research and writing ability, preferably publication experience;
- Excellent computer and quantitative analytical skills;
- English and Chinese language proficiency;
- Demonstrated capacity to work well under pressure and completing demands with minimal supervision.
Highly preferred:
- Knowledge of water management;
- Knowledge of Chinese water and pollution control policies.
